Lowther were appointed by Siemens Energy Ltd to supply and install the internal security fencing package at the Moray East offshore wind farm onshore substation in Aberdeenshire.
Overview
The Moray East project required internal fencing across two systems: standard-height chainlink for the main internal zones and heavy-duty mesh panel fencing for specific high-security separation areas within the substation.
Works Undertaken
The internal fencing comprised 1,110 metres of 1,800mm galvanised steel chainlink, erected on a continuous A252 reinforced concrete strip foundation 450mm wide by 300mm deep with surface float finish and vertical joints every third bay to accommodate shrinkage.
A further 75 metres of 6,000mm Dulok 656 mesh panel fencing was installed on reinforced slab bases to the areas requiring the highest level of internal separation.
