Lowther Forestry Group provides grounds maintenance and vegetation management services across the United Kingdom. Our grounds maintenance teams operate from five regional offices, supported by a specialist fleet that includes Metrac mountain tractors, robomowers, hydroseeding units and ultra-low ground pressure plant for sensitive, steep or waterlogged terrain. Common Questions About Our Grounds Maintenance Services

What is the difference between programmed and reactive grounds maintenance?
Programmed maintenance follows a scheduled cycle agreed with the client, covering routine tasks such as grass cutting, hedge trimming and waterway vegetation management at set intervals throughout the year. Reactive maintenance covers unplanned or urgent works, such as storm damage clearance, emergency access restoration or vegetation encroachment that requires immediate attention. We deliver both under long-term framework agreements.
What specialist plant do you use for grounds maintenance?
Our fleet includes Metrac mountain tractors for steep gradients, ultra-low ground pressure tracked equipment for waterlogged or sensitive ground, amphibious plant for in-channel and reedbed work, and robotic mowers for areas that are difficult to access with conventional machinery. All equipment is regularly maintained and operated by trained, certified personnel.
Do you hold framework agreements with public sector organisations?
Yes. We have held continuous approved supplier status with a major UK water utility since 1980 and serve as primary supplier to a national government agency under a multi-year regional framework. These long-standing relationships reflect the consistency and reliability of our delivery over more than four decades.
What does NHSS 18 accreditation cover?
NHSS 18A, 18B and 18C cover landscaping and arboricultural works on or adjacent to the highway network. Holding all three schemes demonstrates that our teams are trained, audited and competent to carry out grounds maintenance works safely in highway and infrastructure environments. We also hold ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification.
What areas of the UK do your grounds maintenance teams cover?
We operate from five regional offices in Penrith, Castleford, Runcorn, Milton Keynes and the West Midlands. This network gives us responsive coverage across England and Wales, with locally based teams and specialist plant available for deployment to sites of all sizes and terrain types.
