Specialist Plant for Difficult Ground

Metrac mountain tractors, ULGP and amphibious plant for sensitive ground. Menzi Mucks for in-channel and reedbed work. A specialist fleet for the difficult sites we are asked to deliver.

A National Contractor Built on Long Relationships

Lowther Forestry has grown organically since 1980, opening regional offices to follow the work rather than to claim territory. We now run five offices: Penrith, Castleford, Runcorn, Milton Keynes and the West Midlands.

We work to keep the same Contracts Manager and the same team on a project from tender through delivery. Information stays with the people who scoped the job rather than passing through departments. That is how the business has grown: through repeat work with quantity surveyors and project managers who know the team.

That continuity is supported by in-house plant for sensitive ground and a continuous supply relationship with a major UK water utility that has run since 1980. Forty-six years of repeat work has shaped how we operate.

Common Questions About Lowther Forestry

Are you NHSS 18A, 18B and 18C accredited?
Yes, across landscaping and arboriculture. We also hold NHSS 2A and 2C for fencing, and we are ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certified across the business.
Is your contract coverage nationwide?
Yes. Our regional teams deliver contracts nationwide. Five offices across the UK — Penrith, Castleford, Runcorn, Milton Keynes and the West Midlands — mean project teams come from the office closest to your site. Tree surveying and Advanced Tree Assessments are run from our Penrith team and travel nationally.
Do you have your own specialist plant?
Yes. We operate a specialist fleet that includes Metrac mountain tractors, ultra-low ground pressure plant, amphibious equipment for in-channel and reedbed work, robotic mowers, hydroseeding units and advanced post-driving and auger equipment for fencing. For high-security fencing installations, we complete engineered concrete formwork and foundation work in-house. Our contract-grow nursery at Severndale in Shrewsbury provides trees, shrubs and hedging at scale for major landscape schemes.
How do tender enquiries work?
Contact any of our five regional offices or use the enquiry form on our website. Tender enquiries are managed by our regional managers, who are generally the first point of contact for PQQs and pricing. Where possible, the same contracts manager who prices the work carries it through to delivery, so you are dealing with someone who knows the scope from the start.
Can you take on multiple high-security fencing projects at once?
We are selective about the high-security projects we commit to, so that every contract receives the management attention and specialist resource it needs. We would rather deliver two projects to a high standard than stretch across three and compromise on quality. If you have a programme of work, we are happy to discuss phasing and capacity early in the tender process.
